A few hours before the schedule for the 2020 was officially released, the New Orleans added a familiar face to the roster.
The Saints announced on Thursday afternoon that the team had agreed to terms on a one-year contract with wide receiver Austin Carr. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Carr has appeared in 21 regular season games, and two more postseason games, with the Saints. New Orleans originally claimed him off of waivers from New England after the 2017 preseason.
In three seasons, Carr has recorded 10 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. During the 2019 seasons, Carr appeared in six games (three starts) before being placed on Injured Reserve at midseason.
Carr was originally signed by New England as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern in 2017, leading the Patriots in receiving in the preseason with 14 catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns.
The Santa Monica, Calif. native spent five years at Northwestern out of the Big 10, where in his final season, he set career-highs with 90 receptions for 1,247 yards and 12 touchdowns. That gave Carr the distinction of becoming just the third player since 1990 to lead the Big Ten in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in a single season.
