The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (1-1) needed some help late in Wednesday night’s contest and got that from Mylik Wilson on the way to a 66-63 win over the UNO Privateers (0-3).

How It Happened:

The Privateers came out of the gates strong, going on a 13-0 run capped off by a three-pointer by Lamont Berzat with 13:05 left in the first half. The Cajuns start to fight back and got within two points after a Dou Gueye jumper capped off a 15-8 run. Cedric Russell and Isaiah Richards finished off the first half and got Louisiana within one, trailing 26-25 as both teams headed into the locker room.

The momentum from the end of the first half carried the Cajuns to a 34-30 lead at the first media timeout of the second half. From that point on Wilson took over the contest, scoring 16 of his 21 points and put Louisiana in control. However, UNO kept fighting back, tying things up at 59 with 53 seconds left after a Rodney Carson three-pointer. However, Mylik Wilson put the game away with a three-point play just moments later.

Big Number: 1,000

Russell joined an elite club on Wednesday night, scoring 12 points to become the 49th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark in Ragin’ Cajuns history.

Player of the Game: Mylik Wilson

The Cajuns star guard had a great showing on Wednesday night, leading the way with 21 points along with a good defensive night, racking up five steals.
