A couple of weeks after Cedric Russell entered the transfer portal, the Cajuns basketball program received some good news on Tuesday in forward Dou Gueye announcing his intentions to return for one more season with the program.

“I am excited to announced that I will return to the University of Louisiana and finish my career as a Ragin’ Cajun” Gueye said in a statement released by the university, “The people of Louisiana have welcomed me with open arms the past two seasons. Also, finishing my degree and becoming a graduate of this great institution is extremely important to me.”

Gueye averaged 9.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season and was relied on to be one of the top defenders on the program. The native of Dakar, Senegal was also a key cog for the Cajuns during the Sun Belt Conference tournament with 16 points and 11 boards in a win over South Alabama on March 6th.
