Alex Bregman and the Houston Astros went into Sunday’s series finale putting their three-game win streak and a sweep of the Oakland A’s on the line.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The scoring started for the Astros in the first inning, when Yordan Alvarez reached base and Bregman followed him with a two-run moonshot to left field to make it 2-0 Houston early.

In the second, Chas McCormick and Christian Vasquez reached base and Jose Altuve would bring them both home on an RBI double to deep left-center field to double the lead to 4-0.

Scoring for the Astros continued in the sixth when Vasquez singled to score Kyle Tucker and make it a five-run lead for Houston. Then in the seventh, Bregman would double to score Pena and make it 6-0.

The A’s would get three runs back late, one via the home run and then two more runs in the ninth. In the end, the Astros were just too much offensively, as they won 6-3 over Oakland this afternoon.

BIG NUMBER: 8

The Astros struck out eight Oakland batters on the afternoon, which was six more than the A’s were able to get on Houston.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Alex Bregman

Bregman has been great ever since the birth of his son, and today was no different. The LSU product hit a two-run homer and an RBI double in today’s game, garnering three RBIs for Houston.

UP NEXT: The Astros (75-41) will head to the SOuthside of Chicago for a three-game series with the White Sox. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 Monday and can be heard on The Game.
