Tuesday, August 30th at 3:00 p.m. Central time was the deadline for the New Orleans Saints to make their final roster cuts and get down to 53 players before the start of the regular season.
Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was also dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles for a couple of picks this morning.
The players and positions that got waived and moved to get to 53 are as follows:
Quarterback: Ian Book
Offensive line: Josh Andrews, Derek Schweiger, Nick Martin
Wide Receiver: Kirk Merritt, Rashid Shaheed, Dai’Jean Dixon, Kawaan Baker (Suspended list)
Tight End: Lucas Krull, J.P. Holtz
Defensive Line: Taco Charlton, Jordan Jackson, Niko Lalos, Albert Huggins (IR)
Linebacker: Eric Wilson, Jon Bostic, Nephi Sewell, Chase Hansen
Defensive Back: DaMarcus Fields, Vincent Gray
Book, Dixon, Fields, Gray, Hansen, Jackson, Krull, Lalos, Merritt, Schweiger, Sewell, and Shaheed will need to clear waivers to be signed. Andrews, Bostic, Charlton, Holtz, Martin, and Wilson don’t have to clear waivers as vested veterans can be signed back right away.
