For a little while now, I’ve been challenged by more than a few people to take on the 72 Oz. steak challenge at the Big Texan steakhouse in Amarillo, Texas. This has been a challenge I’ve been wanting to do for years.
I won’t back away from a food eating challenge and this one could be the holy grail of them all. The challenge is a 72 Oz steak, a side salad, shrimp, whole baked potato, and a whole roll must all be consumed in an hour. If you win the challenge, the meal is free, you get a shirt, and your picture on the wall. I’ve heard about 48,000 have attempted the challenge and about 8,000 have won the challenge. So the numbers aren’t exactly on my side. Btw, the meal costs $72.00 if you don’t finish it, but you get to take the food home. Not terrible.
Dave Schultz has called me the “bottomless pit” and my reputation would be at serious stake in this challenge. I’m all about it though!
My buddy Brett Benoit and I have been talking about driving up to Amarillo and attempting the challenge one of these days. Brett would compete in the challenge with me. If we could get a group to go and cheer us on, we wouldn’t be against it. It’d probably help us in conquering the contest.

Thank You for hanging out with me on the sidelines. Until next time, have a nice day, a goodnight, and a better tomorrow to you all!
