The top-ranked LSU Tigers traveled to the plains of Auburn to battle with the Auburn Tigers. Paul Skenes delivered another master class and Tre Morgan accounted for all three of LSU’s runs as the Tigers shut out Auburn on night one 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

LSU wasted no time scoring on the road, when Gavin Dugas started the game getting hit by a pitch for the 21st time this season. Tre Morgan came up next and got him home with a two-run blast to make it 2-0 in favor of the Purple and Gold.

Later in the game, Morgan added a third RBI on a single through the right side of the infield to score Alex Milazzo and increase the LSU lead to 3-0.

Paul Skenes delivered an incredible performance, striking out 14 in seven innings of work to put the Tigers in a strong position to win.

Thatcher Hurd came on in the ninth to get the save as LSU picked up the 3-0 win.

BIG NUMBER: 15

Paul Skenes continued to pound the strike zone for the Tigers tonight, racking up 15 strikeouts in seven innings for LSU. 15 strikeouts in a game is a career-high for Skenes.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Paul Skenes/Tre Morgan

Skenes went seven complete while striking out a career-high 15. Morgan meanwhile was responsible for all three of LSU’s runs in the win.

UP NEXT: LSU and Auburn will meet once again for Game 2 of the series. First pitch from Plainsman Park is set for 8:00 pm and you can hear it all on The Game.
