Jayden Daniels had a career night for the home opener at Tiger Stadium.

In a 72-10 victory over Grambling, the senior quarterback threw five first-half touchdowns, directing TD drives on each of the first six possessions for LSU to be named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2023 college football season. He left the game at the end of the first half with a 42-10 lead as the Arizona State transfer went 18-24 for 269 yards while getting 29 yards rushing on five carries.

As for the Tigers as a whole, the 72 points scored were the most in a regulation game since dropping 77 against Rice in 1977.

Defense and special teams were both represented by ULM Warhawks as Adin Huntington was named the player of the week on the defensive side and Austin Goffney was the special teams representative.

Huntington recorded a career-high 14 tackles in a 24-14 win over Lamar with one tackle for a loss and half a sack in the contest. The win makes the Warhawks 2-0 for the first time since 2018. The ULM defense produced seven tackles for loss and four sacks in the contest with Lamar and also forced two turnovers. Now, the Warhawks defense has seven takeaways in two games when it only managed eight in 2022.

For the special teams side, Austin Goffney blocked a punt against his former team Saturday night that ULM was able to recover in the endzone for a 14-0 lead. The Lamar transfer also had an interception in the game which he returned 30 yards on a fake field-goal attempt in the first quarter.
