Louisiana’s Joe Charles has been named the Player of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
The Carencro native averaged a double-double for the week in a pair of victories for the Ragin Cajuns.
The junior averaged 17.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in victories over ULM and South Alabama at the Cajundome. So far, Charles has recorded nine double-doubles and is nearly averaging a double-double for the year.
Against the Warhawks, Charles had 19 points on a career-high five threes to go with 11 rebounds and three steals. Three days later, he scored 16 with 15 rebounds against South Alabama to extend the win streak to seven games.
Charles continues to lead the conference in rebounds (11.1) and is second in steals (2.0).
