The new league year has begun and there has been no shortage of moves that have been made. Some teams have made more than others and there’s been some major news that dropped this morning and it’s made me change how I believe the first round will end. Here is my latest mock for the 2024 NFL Draft:
- Chicago Bears – Caleb Williams – QB – USC
The Bears are making all kinds of moves to make Caleb Williams feel right at home. The only question is, what will happen with Justin Fields? - Washington Commanders – Jayden Daniels – QB – LSU
Now that Williams has been taken, Washington can take the other Heisman Trophy winner. - New England Patriots – Drake Maye – QB – North Carolina
Not too sure that the Pats are sold on Maye but I’m sure who would trade up to this pick to take him. Maybe I’ll be more adventurous in the upcoming mock drafts. - Arizona Cardinals – Marvin Harrison Jr. – WR – Ohio St.
The wide receiver room is bare bones for the most part now. Time for Marvin Harrison Jr. to be Kyler Murray’s go-to guy. - Los Angeles Chargers – Joe Alt – OT – Notre Dame
The way the Chargers have attacked free agency they are either going offensive line in the first round or taking Malik Nabers. For now, I have them taking Alt. - New York Giants – Malik Nabers – WR – LSU
If the Chargers don’t take Nabers, the Giants surely will. Someone has to be consistent enough to give Daniel Jones a chance at succeeding now that Saquon Barkley is gone. - Tennessee Titans – Jared Verse – ED – Florida St.
Time to get some more pressure on the quarterback since Mike Vrabel is gone and a majority of the moves the team has made have been on the offensive side. - Atlanta Falcons – Dallas Turner – ED – Alabama
Same time with Atlanta. They have addressed wide receivers multiple times. Not to mention, the guys on the defensive line aren’t getting any younger. - Chicago Bears – Byron Murphy II – IDL – Texas
Keenan Allen is now a Bear so I don’t have to contemplate where to put Rome Odunze. - New York Jets – Rome Odunze – WR – Washington
Speaking of Odunze, the Jets have emptied their receiver room just like the Cardinals did so all signs lead to to getting another pass catcher. Unless they continue to try and improve the offensive line. - Minnesota Vikings – Michael Penix Jr. – QB – Washington
A little bit of a switch up here. Penix makes a little more sense trying to go deep to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. - Denver Broncos – J.J. McCarthy – QB – Michigan
McCarthy also seems like he’d work well in a Sean Payton offense after hopefully sitting a year or two. Denver just needs to sign a QB if that’s the case. - Las Vegas Raiders – Amarius Mims – OT – Georgia
The Raiders have never been shy about grabbing players from top programs and that right side of the line could use some help. - New Orleans Saints – Troy Fautanu – OT – Washington
I’m sticking with the former Husky on this one Saints fans. I know many want a wide receiver but I’m even more confident it’s not happening now with the Cedrick Wilson Jr. signing. - Indianapolis Colts – Brock Bowers – TE – Georgia
Huge drop from five to 15 but still a high draft spot for a tight end at the top of his class. - Seattle Seahawks – Laiatu Latu – ED – UCLA
Even though the Seahawks got Leonard Williams, it’s still not enough if this team wants to compete in the NFC West. - Jacksonville Jaguars – Cooper Dejean – CB – Iowa
So many transactions by Jacksonville but now they need a new boundary corner and who better to fill in than one of the top guys at his position in this class? - Cincinnati Bengals – Taleise Fuaga – OT – Oregon St.
Since Jonah Williams packed his bags for Arizona, it’s time to again address the offensive line and try to keep Joe Burrow from getting injured again. - Los Angeles Rams – Jer’Zhan Newton – IDL – Illinois
Now that Aaron Donald has retired, getting Newton midway into the first round to replace him would be perfect. - Pittsburgh Steelers – Ladd McConkey – WR – Georgia
This wide receiver room will become very young if this happens but there isn’t much more to work on since the front office signed multiple defensive starters and Diontae Johnson is now in Carolina. - Miami Dolphins – Brian Thomas Jr. – WR – LSU
Since Wilson is in New Orleans now could be a good time to get a receiver that’s young and explosive like Tyreek Hill. - Philadelphia Eagles – Chris Braswell – ED – Alabama
Braswell may not have played ball at Georgia but he’s still an SEC product. Also, Philly loves having a constant rotation of defensive linemen. - Minnesota Vikings – Chop Robinson – ED – Penn St.
Minnesota has decided to double dip into the first round with the trade that went down this morning. Very good chance they move up to the top three with this pick but for now I have them taking Robinson here to replace Danielle Hunter. - Dallas Cowboys – Adonai Mitchell – WR – Texas
There’s a good chance Michael Gallup is gone and Brandin Cooks isn’t getting any younger. Getting young, cheap dynamic weapons will keep this offense rolling. - Green Bay Packers – JC Latham – OT – Penn St.
Now David Bakhtiari has been released, it’s time to draft his replacement. The Packers might even trade up to do so; anything could happen on draft night. - Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Quinyon Mitchell – CB – Toledo
Since Carlton Davis was traded to the Lions early on in free agency, Tampa ought to draft his replacement. - Arizona Cardinals – Kris Jenkins – IDL – Michigan
The Cardinals signed a couple of defensive linemen but they likely won’t have the impact on the line that Jenkins would have. - Buffalo Bills – Tyler Nubin – S – Minnesota
Buffalo has made a surprising amount of signings even with all of the cuts they made. Safety however looks like it’s missing a key piece there. - Detroit Lions – Terrion Arnold – CB – Alabama
I initially had the Lions taking an edge rusher to pair opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Since Arnold fell to this spot it feels like Detroit should just take the best player available. - Baltimore Ravens – Nate Wiggins – CB – Clemson
The Ravens let go of a couple of secondary players and need to replace them one way or another. Wiggins could slot into a starting role early. - San Francisco 49ers – Payton Wilson – LB – NC St.
San Fran almost had Eric Kendricks to fill in for Dre’ Greenlaw while he recovers from that torn ACL but the vet linebacker changed his mind and went to Dallas. Wilson can be an option if they don’t find someone else for cheap in free agency. - Kansas City Chiefs – Olumuyiwa Fashanu – OT – Penn St.
Now that the Chiefs have signed a competent veteran receiver, I can mock tackle to fix that left side of the line.
