The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns went into Sunday of the Bryan-College Station Regional looking to avenge their loss to Texas from Friday in an elimination game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Louisiana got a base hit in the second inning with a single from Caleb Stelly before a sacrifice moved him to second base. Duncan Pastore got another hit, scoring Stelly and putting the Cajuns on the board.

Will Gasparino, who came up with a few RBIs against the Cajuns on Friday, got an RBI single after a pair of Texas baserunners got on via single and a walk.

In the top of the third, Trey LaFleur singled to start the inning and came around to score a few batters later with a RBI single from Lee Amedee that put Louisiana back in front 2-1.

The Cajuns continued to pitch well and play strong defense, but add to the lead again in the eighth with an RBI single from John Taylor that scored SBC Player of the Year Kyle DeBarge.

Two batters later, Jose Torres sent a three run homer out of Blue Bell Park as Louisiana was on the brink of advancing to the Regional Final with a big win over Texas.

The Cajuns got a second three-run homer in the eighth inning when Bryan Broussard got a hold of a ball, sending it to center field and scoring Conor Higgs and LaFleur on the home run to make it 9-1 in favor of Louisiana.

In the bottom of the eighth, Peyton Powell walked followed by back to back singles from Casey Borba and Rylan Galvan scored Powell and made it 9-2.

LP Langevin relieved Chase Morgan in the sixth inning and has been incredible, pitching three innings of reliefs while allowing just two hits and one run while striking out six.

Louisiana added to their lead in the ninth as Torres got his fourth RBI of the afternoon when he singled to score Taylor and extend the lead to 10-2.

Texas loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth on Matthew Holzhammer, but the young and talented pitcher was able to drop the hammer on the Longhorns with a 10-2 final score.

BIG NUMBER: 7

Louisiana got seven runs in the eighth inning, including six off a pair of three-run homers.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Chase Morgan

The Sun Belt Freshman of the Year pitched 5.1 innings on Sunday, allowing 7 hits but only one run while striking out three to keep the game close and allow the offense the opportunity to explode late in the game.

UP NEXT: Louisiana will return to Blue Bell Park to play host Texas A&M for the the first time on the weekend. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
