Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Hunter Feduccia became the 17th former LSU Tiger to claim a World Series ring when the Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees, 7-6, in Game 5 at Yankee Stadium to win the 2024 Fall Classic.
Feduccia, who played high school baseball at Barbe High, was a 12th-round draft choice of the Dodgers in 2018, made his MLB debut this past July. He appeared in five games for the Dodgers during the regular season, as he recorded four hits in 12 at-bats with one RBI and two runs.
The Lake Charles native hit .295 this season at Triple-A Oklahoma City with a .420 on-base percentage and .451 slugging percentage in 64 games.
During the 2018 season, Feduccia started 48 games at catcher for LSU hitting .233 with 10 doubles, three home runs, and 31 RBI. Before that, Feduccia played two seasons at LSU at Eunice. He was voted the 2016 & 2017 LSU-Eunice Defensive Player of the Year, and he batted .394 in 2017 with 11 doubles, three triples, six homers, 47 RBI, and nine steals.
17 former LSU baseball players have played for, or managed, World Series championship teams on 22 occasions. The first former Tiger to do so was New York Giants infielder Alvin Dark in 1954.
Since 1990, 43 former Tigers have been a part of MLB playoff squads, and 15 LSU players have been members of World Series Championship teams in that span (1990-2024).
