Alex Bregman is set to become a free agent this offseason, and he will be doing so with some extra hardware.

Bregman took home the Rawlings Gold Glove at third base in the American League, the award announced on Sunday.

The Astros’ star corner infielder led players at his position in fielding percentage, assists, and putouts. Surprisingly, it is his first Gold Glove in his career.

The former LSU Tiger hit .260 with 26 home runs and 75 RBIs for the season. The Astros were eliminated in the Wild Card Round, losing two straight to the Detroit Tigers. It marked the first time in seven seasons that Houston did not make it to the ALCS.

Bregman is set to become a free agent this offseason and will be looking for a very big contract. The Astros reportedly have interest, but they may not be willing or able to meet Bergman’s demands. If he is to leave, it would mark the first time in his nine-year career that he put on a uniform other than that of the Astros.

He has won two World Series titles with Houston and has been a part of all seven trips to the ALCS.

Houston Astros baseball is broadcast on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles.
