The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns led the way for yearly honors for the Sun Belt Conference as the Cajuns placed 15 players on the All-Conference teams. Ben Wooldridge was named Offensive Player of the Year and Michael Desormeaux was named Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.
Louisiana placed six players on the first team, the most in team history. Wooldridge was joined by Landon Burton, AJ Gillie, Terrance Carter, K.C. Ossai, and Kenneth Almendares.
Jordan Lawson, Tyrone Lewis, and Tyree Skipper made the second team while Lance LeGendre and Keyon Martin represented Louisiana on the third team.
Jax Harrington, Mason Narcisse, Zylan Perry, and Carmycah Glass were each named Honorable Mention by the conference teams, voted on by a panel of coaches and media members.
Wooldridge led the SBC in passing efficiency (159.42) and was third in passing yards (239.2). The California native finished the season 12th in the FBS with a 68.3% completion percentage.
Carter led the Cajuns with 48 receptions while finishing second in both yards (689) and touchdowns (4). He made at least one reception in each game in 2024 while being a part of the longest offensive play of the year, his 74-yard touchdown catch vs App State.
Burton, a Lafayette native, was one of two offensive linemen to play in all 12 games, along with fellow first-teamer AJ Gillie. The Cajuns offensive line ranked fifth among FBS programs in fewest tackles for loss, 18th in total offense, and 44th in rushing offense.
Gillie, a preseason first-teamer, started all 12 games and reached the coveted 50-game milestone in the regular season finale against ULM.
Ossai finished third in total tackles amongst the SBC with 103 while ranking 31st nationally with 8.6 tackles per game.
Almendares finished the season as the national leader in field goals made with 26 and was eighth natioanlly in points. the Clune, Texas native is a finalist for the Lou Groza Award, given annually to the best place kicker in college football. He holds both the school and conference records for field goals made while also holding program records for career scoring and PATs.
Desormeaux led Louisiana to the fourth double-digit win season in the last six seasons after back-to-back seasons of 6-7 records. The New Iberia native and former All-Conference quarterback led the Cajuns to their conference-leading fifth appearance in the still-new Sun Belt Conference Championship Game, playing just its seventh contest this Saturday at Cajun Field.
The kickoff of that contest between Louisiana and Marshall is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday night and can be seen on ESPN.
