The Associated Press revealed their initial Top 25 rankings for the 2025 football season, and both LSU and Louisiana were on the list.
The AP Top 25 is published weekly during the college football season, and is a ranking that uses a point system with votes being cast by members of the AP that consist of college football media members.
The LSU Tigers come in ranked #9 in the preseason iteration of the poll, garnering 1174 total points. They did not receive any first-place votes, and come in as the fourth highest ranked SEC team. The Clemson Tigers, LSU’s first opponent of the season, come in at #4 in the initial rankings.

As for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, they did not make the Top 25 but did garner a single vote, putting them in the “Others receiving votes” category. They are ranked tied for 48th with Colorado if you include the teams that got votes.
