Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns quarterback Walker Howard is set to undergo oblique surgery today and is likely to miss the remainder of the 2025 football season, according to multiple sources including LouisianaSports.net.
The former STM Cougar won the starting job in fall camp over Daniel Beale and Lunch Winfield and made his first collegiate start against the Rice Owls. Late in the contest, Howard went down with an injury. He was later seen attempting to go back into the game, but ultimately was held out for the remainder of the Cajuns’ 14-12 season-opening loss.
LouisianaSports.net reported that he was seeing a specialist in Birmingham, Alabama and it has been determined that he will have surgery to correct the injury. This likely puts him out for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Beale, a redshirt freshman out of Catholic High Baton Rouge, has been named the starter for this Saturday’s game against McNeese. Winfield will also play, but it will not be a dual-quarterback system.
Kickoff between the Cajuns and Cowboys is set for 7:00 PM on Saturday night inside Our lady of Lourdes Stadium.
