
New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Shepherd blocked a Carolina Panthers field goal attempt in the third quarter from 48 yards out. That came when the Saints had a 10-7 lead. They would go on to win the game 17-7.
Additionally, Shepherd had a sack and two tackles in the victory. For the season, he now has two sacks and 13 tackles.
The Saints have a bye this week before hosting the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday.
