All Aboard the UFC 200 Hype Train

Posted by alanmichael on June 30, 2016 in Featured

brock ufc 200

We are just over a week away and the HYPE is palpable heading into the biggest MMA card in history. UFC 200 will be ridiculous and even though the fights sell themselves, this show is not being promoted the way it should be.

First of all, you have the so-called best fighter in the world Jon Jones underselling his opponent, the interim Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. Jones said Cormier was not his rival. Jones is also complaining about the referee assigned to the fight, Big John McCarthy. Way to sell champ.

We also are not getting the full onslaught of HYPE from both UFC and WWE in regards to Brock Lesnar. Lesnar’s return should be shoved down our throats every second of every day until July 9, yet WWE has only mentioned it in social media and UFC seems to be waiting to go full carny with all the promotional gimmicks until fight week. I can’t wait until the details about this arrangement are revealed because it seems it is very strict with how the cross-promotional stuff is handled.

Regardless of the poor promotional tactics by WWE and UFC, there is still plenty to be geeked about for UFC 200; I mean we’re talking about BROCK LESNAR’s return! Miesha Tate will finally defend her title after her shocking win over Holly Holm! Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon is on the friggin’ Fight Pass prelim this card is so stacked! Check out my interview with The Fight Network’s John Pollock below for even more UFC 200 talk. Next week is fight week, so this is just the tip of the HYPE iceberg.
