Almost one full week into spring practice, and the LSU Tigers will be without one of their QBs.
Anthony Jennings was granted his release to transfer to another school, the university announced on Thursday.
The senior from Marietta, Georgia is expected to graduate during the summer and then transfer to another university.
Jennings started 13 games for the Tigers, along with most of the games in the 2014 season. However, he dd struggle during his time at LSU, completing only 48 percent of his passes in 2014 for 1,611 yards.
He looked to be in the running to start in 2015, but after an off-the-field incident over the summer led to sophomore Brandon Harris getting the job under center.
“Anthony did a lot of really good things for our program,” Les Miles said in a statement released as part of the university’s announcement. “As a freshman, he came in for an injured Zach Mettenberger and led us to a last-minute win over Arkansas and then he helped us to eight wins the following year as a sophomore. This is an opportunity for Anthony to put himself in a position to help another team have success. We wish him nothing but good fortune in the future and we appreciate all that he did while he was part of our program.”
