Sugar Land Space Cowboys pitcher Spencer Arrighetti was named the Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the Houston Astros organization.
The former Louisiana Ragin Cajun was taken in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Astros and has worked his way to the Triple A clubhouse. In 2023, Arrighetti made 15 appearances with 13 starts, going 2-5 with a 4.64 ERA while striking out 62 and a .217 batting average against. He posted a 1.93 ERA in home appearances at Constellation Field, giving up just nine runs.
Between Double A Chorpus Christi and Sugar Land, the right handed pitcher made 21 appearances with a 9-7 overall record. He had a career high in innings and struck out 141 batters. He finished second in wins among the minor league organizations, third in strikeouts, innings, and average against, fourth in WHIP and sixth in ERA.
Arrighetti is currently ranked as a top prospect in the Astros organization, so it’s only a matter of time until he is suiting up in the orange and navy for the two-time World Champions.
