The Astros fantastic season will continue.
The Houston Astros entered Yankee Stadium with Dallas Keuchel starting things off on three days rest and having Carlos Gomez back after being sidelined with an injury, and walked out of Yankee Stadium with another champagne celebration after shutting out the New York Yankees 3-0.
Both teams struggled in the first inning, but it was Colby Rasmus on the first pitch of the second inning who sent one flying 401 feet to right field to get the first score on the night.
After having the bases loaded later in the inning, Masahiro Tanaka was able to prevent further scoring in the inning. Neither team scored until the top of the fourth when Carlos Gomez followed Rasmus’ lead with a solo shot on the first pitch of the inning, but this time sending the ball to left field.
Jose Altuve put the dagger in the Yankees hopes with a single to left field that allowed Jonathan Villar to score to go up 3-0.
Keuchel was credited with the win after throwing six shutout innings and allowing only three hits, walking one, and striking out seven.
Luke Gregerson got the save in the ninth, striking out two in the process.
The Astros now advance to the AL Division Series and will take on the Kansas City Royals with game one starting on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 6:37 pm.
