Houston Astros’ right-handed pitcher is set to miss the remainder of the 2025 season, the team announced on Wednesday.
His elbow injury requires surgery, and the recovery timetable will rule him out for the remainder of the season. The Astros added that he is expected to return in 2026.
Blanco was originally put onto the injured list on Thursday, May 22nd. He left the team’s series in Tampa to get further imaging done on the elbow, but those images confirmed the need for surgery.
So far in 2025, Blanco had posted a 4.10 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings of work. He was coming off of a career year in 2024, where he logged a 13-6 record with a 2.80 ERA in 30 appearances with 29 starts.
The Astros wrap up their short two-game set with the A’s this afternoon at 1:10. You can listen to that game on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles.
