As the trade deadline nears, the Houston Astros made a move for a former player on Wednesday afternoon in Martin Maldonado.
Maldonado, 32, was part of the Astros last season after getting traded at the deadline from the Los Angeles Angels. The Cubs will receive utility man Tony Kemp.
Maldonado started the season off with the Kansas City Royals after Salvador Perez was ruled out for the rest of the year due to Tommy John surgery, but was traded to the Cubbies on July 15th. During his time with the Cubs, he only appeared in four games and did not record a hit with the team.
Kemp, 27, batted .227 with seven homers and 17 RBIs in 186 plate appearances for the Astros.
