One of Louisiana’s own is returning to the Bayou State to play professional basketball.
Frank Bartley IV, a Baton Rouge native and former Louisiana Ragin Cajun star, has been named to the Summer League roster for the New Orleans Pelicans. The Summer League season gets underway from Las Vegas on Friday.
Bartley was incredible for two seasons in Lafayette after transferring from BYU. He shot 44% from the field and 37% beyond the arc in Vermillion and White while averaging 16.5 points per game. Bartley also averaged four rebounds and three assists per game under Bob Marlin.
Bartley was a member of the 2017-2018 team that won a then-school record 27 games and appeared in the NIT, where they fell to LSU at the PMAC.
Since leaving Louisiana, Bartley has played internationally in Canada, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Israel, and Italy. For the 2022-2023 season, he played with Allianz Trieste in Italy, where he averaged 19.5 points per game and shot 40% from the field and 38% from downtown.
After five seasons playing European-style basketball, Bartley will have the opportunity to return to the US and impress the organization that he grew up watching in the New Orleans Pelicans during Summer League.
