For a little bit of Saturday night’s matchup, it seemed like the LSU Tigers (7-4) weren’t able to get things done offensively. That all changed with a six-run inning that was more than enough to help the Tigers get past Sacred Heart (3-3) by the score of 7-0.
The Tigers got it all started in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Hunter Feduccia to score Austin Bain. Beau Jordan followed that up with an RBI triple out to right field to make it 2-0.
After an RBI single from Jake Slaughter, Bryce Jordan one-upped his brother with a two-run single to left field to really pour it on. Brandt Broussard got the sixth run across later in the inning with an RBI single to center field to help put the nail in Sacred Heart’s chances.
Caleb Gilbert improved to 1-0 on the year, throwing seven and two-thirds innings of work. Gilbert allowed only four hits and struck out seven on the evening.
LSU will wrap up the weekend against Southeastern Louisiana (7-4) with first pitch set for 3 pm.
