LSU will be without their leading hitter for quite some time, as announced by Paul Mainieri on Monday.
Brandt Brousard was diagnosed with a broken thumb on his left hand and is expected to be sidelined for three-to-five weeks. The Baton Rouge native has been the Tigers top hitter, batting .363 this season with three doubles, one triple, and 16 RBIs.
The injury happened on Friday night at Vanderbilt when he was hit by a pitch that was ruled a foul ball by the home plate umpire.
LSU will take on the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns on Tuesday with first pitch set for 7 pm.
