An arrest warrant has been issued for former LSU and Louisiana Ragin Cajuns wide receiver Kyren Lacy.
According to WAFB in Baton Rouge, Lacy is wanted for negligent homicide and felony hit and run after a traffic crash on Highway 20 in Thibodaux on December 17. The crash killed a former Marine while injuring two others.
It’s reported that Lacy “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.” After causing the incident, he sped away and didn’t report it to authorities.
Lacy declared for the NFL Draft on December 19, just two days after the crash.
According to the report from the Louisiana State Police: “As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound lane pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup truck was a Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.”
The crash occurred at 10 a.m. and injured 78-year-old Herman Hall, a Thibodaux native, who later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident is currently under investigation and LSU has yet to comment.
