The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball team is gearing up for the 2024-25 season, but they just added two more players as the summer continues.
Garry Brodhead and his staff announced the addition of RyAnne Walters and Skylah Travis to the team.
Walters is a California native who spent her first three collegiate seasons closer to home at UC Riverside. During her last two seasons there, she averaged over three assists per game as a pass-first guard. She is listed at 5’7, and will add to the depth for the Cajuns’ backcourt.
“RyAnne (Walters) is a point guard who will be able to add our athleticism and quickness,” Brodhead said about the Californian.
Travis is a 6’3 forward who is originally from North Carolina. She is familiar with one Sun Belt Conference school, as she began her collegiate career at Old Dominion. After that, she transferred to the Southeastern Conference to play for Missouri. She should add to the rebounding department for UL, as she averaged over 10 per game in her final high school season.
“Skylah (Travis) is a dominant player who will bring a physical presence in the post,” Brodhead added about his new forward.
The Ragin’ Cajuns added their fifth consecutive winning season in 2023-24. They also made a run to the semi-finals of the Sun Belt Tournament, and will look to build on that momentum when the season gets going later this year.
