Despite not having any All-Star starters in the position player group, the Houston Astros will still be well-represented in Atlanta later this month for the “Mid-Summer Classic.”
Hunter Brown, Josh Hader, and Jeremy Pena were all named American League All-Stars on Sunday as Major League Baseball announced the full squads for both leagues.
Brown has enjoyed an emergence into a bona fide ace in the 2025 season. After a strong finish to 2024, he kept things rolling and now is near the top of baseball in most major pitching categories. He has a 9-3 record with a 1.82 ERA and 126 strikeouts over 104 innings pitched.
Hader has had an even better season in his second campaign with Houston. The left-handed reliever leads the MLB with 25 saves and has not blown a save opportunity. He currently holds a 1.80 ERA with 61 strikeouts across 40 innings of work.
Pena has had perhaps the best offensive season of his career to this point. The 27-year-old shortstop is batting .322 with 11 home runs and 40 RBI. He has settled into the leadoff spot and helped pace the offense for manager Joe Espada this season. Pena did recently suffer an injury, and is currently trying to work his way back onto the field.
The Astros lead the AL West with a 55-35 record. You can listen to their games on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles.
