The Cajuns bats came alive on Saturday afternoon in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader to take down Arkansas-Little Rock (6-11, 0-4 SBC) 15-4.
Dalton Thomas got things going for the Trojans in the top of the first with an RBI double to left field to go take the early lead.
But the Cajuns responded to the Trojans with a two run jack to right field in the bottom of the first from Brenn Conrad to take the lead.
Brian Mills kept it going in the bottom of the third with a two run bomb to left center to make it 4-1.
The Cajuns would open the floodgates in the bottom of the fourth with a two run single by Nick Thurman and a grand slam by Joe Robbins to make it 10-1.
Steven Sensley kept putting more runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double that hit the wall.
The Trojans would try to rally in the seventh inning with a pair of runs in the seventh, but the Cajuns responded in the bottom half of the inning with three more runs to put the game out of reach.
Gunner Leger improved to 2-1 on the year allowing one run off of three hits, walking one, and striking out seven in six innings of work.
The Cajuns (12-6, 3-1) will have the second game of the doubleheader against Little Rock with first pitch set for 5:30 pm.
