One of the worst things about road games in college baseball is that in some of these series, there is a set time that a new inning can’t start after in the third game of the series.
The final inning of the series finale between Coastal Carolina (20-11-1, 8-3-1 Sun Belt) and the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (18-13-1, 7-4-1 Sun Belt) saw this come into play on Sunday afternoon.
The Chanticleers would get out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning with a pair of home runs from Billy Cooke and Kevin Woodall Jr.
The Cajuns would slowly chip away at that lead as the game progressed and cut it down to 5-3 in the fifth with a pair of RBI singles from Brad Antchak and Ishmael Edwards.
The Cajuns would tie it after Bobby Holmes would walk two batters with the bases loaded in the eighth before being pulled for Austin Kitchen.
Brenn Conrad would give the Cajuns the lead in the top of the ninth with an RBI single. Edwards would seemingly give the Cajuns a two-run cushion when he scored off of a wild pitch.
This put the Cajuns in a similar situation to Saturday where they just needed three more outs to get out of Conway, South Carolina with a series win. However, Peyton Isaacson would tie it up with a single to center field that would send two runs across.
After Dalton Ewing lined into a double play, the 10th inning was set to start but the game had gone past the allotted time, resulting in a tie.
The Cajuns will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they head to Metarie to take on LSU (22-11) in the Wally Pontiff Classic. First pitch is set for 7 pm.
