While Nick Lee was heading into Saturday game against Saint Peter’s (0-3) with a 3-0 record, he has had a tendency to allow a team to get the early lead.
That’s exactly what happened when Regina hit an RBI single in the top of the second. After the run was allowed, Coach Tony Robichaux met up with him to calm him down. After that meeting at the mound, he turned it around and led the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (8-4) to a 6-1 victory.
His teammates weren’t worried about his early inning struggles as Alex Pinero put it, “It’s Nick Lee. He’s a stud we’re not worried about him going out there having a bad outing. We always have his back so it was good that jumped out to a good lead for him.”
That’s exactly what they did as Handsome Monica hit an RBI single through the right side to tie things up in the bottom of the second. Joe Robbins would give them a 2-1 lead later in the inning when he ran home as Monica was being thrown out at second base.
Pinero, who has been on a tear, extended their lead with a two-run double down the left field line. Monica got his second RBI of the game in the bottom of the fifth with a single to left field to make it 5-1.
Izzy Edwards would clinch the victory in the sixth with an RBI single of his own.
Nick Lee improved to 4-0 allowing the lone run off three hits, walking one, and striking out five in six innings of work. Wyatt Marks was credited with the save allowing only two hits, walking one, and striking out three in three innings of work.
The Cajuns will look for the sweep on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
