It was another week and another tough overtime loss for the Ragin Cajuns on the road. This one only took two and ended with the Aggies of New Mexico State winning 37-31.
It only took three minutes for New Mexico State to score on the opening drive with Tyler Rogers surgically dismantling the Cajuns defense with short passes and ended with a pass to Clayton Granch to give them the early lead.
The Cajuns would respond on the very next drive with a touchdown pass from Anthony Jennings to Keenan Barnes to tie things up. They would take the lead late in the first half with a chip shot from Stevie Artigue to make it 10-7.
But the Aggies were able to get the lead late in the first half with Larry Rose III running one in from six yards out and followed that up with a pick six to make it 21-10. Artigue would make it 21-13 with another field goal from Artigue.
Jalen Nixon would start the second half for the Cajuns and get points on the board to tie things up early in the third quarter and with a run from Jordan Wright and followed that up with a successful pass to Jordan Wright for two points to tie it up. Both teams would score one more field goal before the end of regulation.
Both teams would score a touchdown in the first regulation, but Stevie Artigue, who had been perfect all night long, missed one which set up New Mexico State winning in the second overtime.
The Cajuns (2-3, 1-1 SBC) will have a few extra days to get ready for Appalachian State (3-2, 1-0 SBC).
