After winning 15-8 last night in Hammond America, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns returned to ML Tigue Moore Field at Russo Park to play Southeastern Louisiana once again. Four runs in the fourth paced the Cajuns to a second straight victory over the Lions and are now 21-1 since March 16.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a tight first three innings where each team only managed one hit, Louisiana put a four spot in the bottom of the fourth. The scoring started with a solo home run to left field by Connor Higgs to put the Cajuns on the board.
Shortly afterward, Connor Cuff launched a two-run double to left center then reached third on the throw-in. The next batter was Caleb Stelly, who scored Cuff on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.
In the fifth, Higgs continued his stretch of good contact at the plate, launching his second homer of the night to extend the lead to 5-0 for the Cajuns. Two innings later in the seventh, Lee Amedee hit a two-run single through the left side to increase the lead to 7-0.
Southeastern got on the board in the top of the eighth when Conner O’Neal launched a 411-foot home run to put the Lions on the board. In the bottom half, Louisiana got the run back with a throwing error to first allowing DeBarge to reach, scoring Cuff.
Murphy Brooks came on for the two-inning save to secure Louisiana’s 30th win of the season in a 8-1 victory over Southeastern.
