Louisiana honored their three seniors Karly Heath, Meghan Schorman, and Kandra Lamb before their final regular season game against ULM. Heath led the Cajuns to a season finale win thanks to her fourth-inning grand slam as Louisiana rolled 9-1 in five innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
ULM got on the board in the second inning after a leadoff double from Kennedy Page before Jacelyn Buck moved her over to third on a single. Later in the frame, Lourdes Bacon reached on a bunt to score Page and make it a 1-0 lead for the Warhawks.
In the bottom of the third, Cecilia Vasquez tied the game back up for the Ragin Cajuns with a solo blast to left-center field with one out. With Mihyia Davis at third later in the inning, Lauren Allred blooped a single to left field to score the go-ahead run before Karly Heath singled home another run to make it 3-1 Cajuns.
Next inning, Louisiana loaded the bases with nobody out when Sophie Piskos hit a grounder to the shortstop that was bobbled and allowed Victoria Valdez to score and increase the Cajun lead to 4-1. With two outs and the bases loaded, Karly Heath launched a grand slam over the scoreboard in right to make it 8-1 after four innings of play.
In the top of the fifth, Meghan Schorman came into the game to play right field, moving Heath to shortstop so that each senior made an appearance on Senior Day.
In the bottom half, Laney Credeur got a pinch-hit double before Kylei Griffin moved her to third on an infield single, advancing to second in a rundown. Taylor Roman came in as a pinch hitter with the bases loaded and got the RBI infield single to win the game 9-1.
