Louisiana and Omaha met for the second time in the Baton Rouge Regional for what was the Mavericks’ second elimination game of the game. The Cajuns unloaded six runs in the fourth inning and were just too much for Omaha as they run-ruled the game in five innings 8-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Louisiana got on the board after a Sophie Piskos double put a pair of runners in scoring position, then Lauren Allred came up and brought them both in on a two-run double down the left-field line.
Alexa Langeliers opened the fourth inning by tattooing a softball to center field to add an insurance run for the Cajuns. Later in the inning, Stormy Kotzelnick brought in another run with Maddie Hayden before Sophie Piskos cleared the bases to score Mihyia Davis and Kotzelnick to push the lead to 6-0. With the bases loaded, Laney Creduer pushed two more runs in to widen the margin even more for Louisiana.
In the fifth, Sophie Piskos brought in her third RBI of the game on a groundout to make it 9-0 in the fifth.
Karly Heath came into the circle in the fourth and closed the door for Louisiana to advance to Championship Sunday.
