The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team fell to the Tulane Green Wave 66-62 on Tuesday night in the Cajundome. The matchup featured old Cajuns rival Ron Hunter coaching the wave against Quannas White, in just his third game with the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game began with UL taking a 3-2 lead on a Jaxon Olvera made three. However, Tulane would go on a 10-3 run after that to take a 13-5 advantage, led by Rowan Brumbaugh.

The Cajuns settled in but would trail by as many as 10 in the half when it got to 17-7. The Louisiana defense kept them in the game while the offense looked for its stride, and late in the half that finally happened.

The Cajuns closed the half on a 9-2 run, taking a one-point lead at 30-29 into the half. The Louisiana offense turned it over just one time in the first 20 minutes.

The teams traded buckets early in the second half, exchanging the lead a handful of times. Tulane was able to get a run together to take a 47-41 lead as KJ Greene converted an and-one to get into double-digit scoring.

The Cajuns battled but could not get over the hump and create a scoring run to overtake Tulane. They got the lead as low two at 53-51, but that was as close as they would get. The Wave held on for the 66-62 win.

BIG NUMBER: 52

Louisiana shot just 52% at the free throw line in this game. When the margins were slim, they were unable to convert at the stripe to cut into the lead.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Rowan Brumbaugh

Brumbaugh led the Wave with 19 points and also contributed five rebounds. He was in foul trouble at times but was able to play through it and avoid picking up his fifth.

UP NEXT: Louisiana will travel to Lake Charles to face McNeese on Friday night at 6:00 PM.
