The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns had a hard time keeping up with Texas State in the second half of Saturday’s contest, resulting in their seven-game win streak being snapped with a 71-59 loss.

How It Happened:

The Cajuns took control of the contest early on with a 7-2 run after the first media timeout, highlighted by a three-ball from Cedric Russell to put them up 12-5 with 12:30 left in the first half. However, the Bobcats fought back as the half progressed, tying it up multiple times in the final three minutes and headed into the break all square at 24 points.

The start of the second half saw the game go back and forth with neither team finding an edge until Texas State went on a 10-0 run highlighted by a big three-pointer from Caleb Asberry. Louisiana got within nine after a pair of free throws by Michael Thomas with 2:09 left in the contest, but it was a case of too little too late.

Big Number: 75

The Bobcats were lethal from the field in the second half, shooting seventy-five percent from the floor, including three-of-five from three. It was an impressive second-half bolstered by Caleb Asberry’s 12 second-half points.

Player of the Game: isaiah Small

Small was a big performer for Texas State the last two nights, but it was all about him with 18 points and four rebounds on the afternoon.

Next Up: Friday vs Little Rock; Tipoff at 6 pm
