The Ragin Cajuns made it look easy on Thursday night against Texas State (9-8, 3-5 Sun Belt) to win their fifth straight game 80-54.
The Cajuns offense came out on fire right out the gate with Jay Wright draining a three to give the Cajuns their first points and never gave up the lead they had over the Bobcats despite turning over the ball 11 times in the first half. The Cajuns defense can be thanked for that, holding Texas State to 21 points, matching a previous low against Appalachian State on January 2nd.
The Cajuns dominance continued in the second half, with the Cajuns continuing to pour gas on the fire and ended their night scoring with Elijah McGuire getting his first career points.
Shawn Long led the Cajuns with another double-double. The senior racked up 19 points, 14 boards, one block, and one steal on the night. Long had four less rebounds than all of the Bobcats in the Thursday night matchup.
Jay Wright also had a great game going 4-for-5 from the arc, scoring 14 points, snagging eight boards, seven assists, and one block.
Ojai Black led Texas State with 14 points, three boards, five assists, and four steals on the night.
The Cajuns (10-8, 6-3 SBC) will try to make it a six-game win streak on Saturday afternoon when they take on UT-Arlington (14-5, 5-3 SBC) with tipoff set for 4:15 pm.
