Cajuns Heavily Represent Postseason Sun Belt Honors

Louisiana head coach Billy Napier was rewarded the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year honor and freshman running back Montrell Johnson locked up Freshman of the Year are the pinnacle of the Cajuns Football postseason awards.

To go along with the Napier and Johnson honors, the Ragin’ Cajuns inhabited 16 All-Conference spots with offensive linemen Max Mitchell and O’Cyrus Torrence, punter Rhys Burns and Chris Smith for All-Purpose all being apart of the First Team.

These 16 All-Conference selections are the most in program history after surpassing the previous record of 14 in 2020.

Quarterback Levi Lewis, Johnson at running back and center Shane Vallot were named to the Second Team offense. On defense, lineman Zi’Yon Hill, linebackers Chauncey Manac and Lorenzo McCaskill, then, defensive backs Percy Butler and Eric Garror all made it.

Smith made it to the Third Team offense too, with lineman Tayland Humphrey and Andre Jones, as well as back Mekhi Garner on the defensive side of the ball.

A few honorable mentions for Louisiana are tight end Johnny Lumpkin, wide receiver Michael Jefferson, linebacker Ferrod Gardner, and defensive back Bralen Trahan.
