Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun linebacker Jacques Boudreaux was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Georgia Southern.
Boudreaux recorded a career-high 12 tackles in Louisiana’s 37-24 road win over the Georgia Southern Eagles. The senior linebacker did most of his work in the first half. Boudreaux tallied seven tackles in the first two quarters.
His previous career-high came against the ULM Warhawks last season when he recorded 11 tackles. Boudreaux also recorded his first tackle for loss of the year in the win over Georgia Southern.
Boudreaux has spent his entire collegiate career with the Ragin’ Cajuns and his junior breakout season showcased what he can do for Louisiana. He totaled 93 tackles and two sacks in 14 starts last season. So far in 2019, Boudreaux has 33 tackles through five games.

Arkansas State wide receiver Omar Bayless was named the conference’s offensive player of the week in the Red Wolves’ 50-43 win over Troy. Bayless posted career-high numbers with 213 receiving yards on 10 receptions.
Bayless also recorded the second longest touchdown catch in the program’s history after scoring a 92-yard touchdown.
Another Arkansas State player earned weekly conference honors. Punter Cody Grace was named special teams player of the week in their against Troy. Grace averaged 49.4 yards per punt and pinned Troy within their own 20-yard line three times. The senior also got it done in the passing game. Grace completed a 15-yard pass to Brandon Bowling on an Arkansas State fake punt.
