The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns have named former St. Thomas More Cougar Walker Howard their starting quarterback for the 2025 season, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Tuesday.
The news comes as the Cajuns prepare for their season opener in just 10 days on August 30th against the Rice Owls in the newly renovated Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium.
Howard was a four-star prospect after leading a decorated career at STM under coach Jim Hightower. He committed to LSU and played his first season for the Tigers, completing two of four passes for seven yards in very limited action.
After that season, he transferred to Ole Miss to play for Lane Kiffin. He played in just four games over the next two seasons, totaling 56 passing yards.
This offseason, he decided to transfer back home to play for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He beat out both Daniel Beale and Lunch Winfield for the starting job and will make his Cajuns’ debut against the Owls.
