After a tough loss to start the season against Ole Miss, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (1-1) opened up their home slate on Tuesday night with a dominating 113-58 victory over Louisiana College (0-1).
The Cajuns set the tone early on, going up 21-6 with 14 minutes left in the first half. The lead continued to expand before both teams headed to the locker room and the Cajuns took a 57-25 lead at halftime.
One of the more interesting numbers in the first half was the Cajuns getting 20 of their 52 points off of turnovers along with 10 off the fastbreak. Louisiana College was simply outmatched and it was obvious once the game tipped off.
The Cajuns picked up right where they left off in the first half with an impressive performance from Alexandria native Cedric Russell with 12 points in the second half to clinch the victory.
The Cajuns will return to action on Friday when they take on Savannah State (0-2) at the Cajundome with tipoff set for 4 pm.
