For much of the first half, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (19-3, 9-0 Sun Belt) looked to be having a rough go of things. However, they were able to shake off the slow start and pulled away late, taking down the Troy Trojans (9-13, 3-6 Sun Belt) by the score of 81-69.
The start for the Cajuns was less than ideal, committing six turnovers and that led to the Trojans going up 11-4 before the first media timeout. They were able to chip away at the lead though, going on an 8-4 run that turned into a five point lead after an easy layup by JaKeenan Gant with 8:12 left in the first half. It stayed back and forth for the rest of the first half until Gant drained a three-pointer as time expired to give the Cajuns a 40-36 at the break.
The Trojans weren’t about to go away early on in the second half, tying things up at 46 with 15:23 left in regulation. The Cajuns caught fire though and went on a 12-4 run in the final moments to clinch their ninth straight win in conference play.
The Cajuns have a week off before heading up to UL Monroe on February 3rd with tipoff set for 2 pm.
