The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (8-1, 5-0 SBC) remain home to face the South Alabama Jaguars (4-5, 3-2 SBC) in a matchup that could clinch the Sun Belt West division on Saturday.
The Cajuns are undefeated in conference play and coming off of a dominant 55-19 win over Arkansas State. The Jaguars are still alive in the division but are coming off of a 34-30 loss to Georgia Southern.
Kickoff inside Cajun Field is set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th.
CLINCH ON THE LINE
A win in this game would clinch the Sun Belt West division for the Ragin’ Cajuns. That would ensure their spot in the SBC Championship game on December 7th.
Even with a loss, the Cajuns woukd still control their own destiny. However, they can avoid any of those stresses by beating the Jaguars on Saturday night in Cajun field.
PLAYOFFS?!?
Are we talking about playoffs? Kind of! The Cajuns are in the running for the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. They would likely need Boise State, Army, and Tulane to all suffer another loss. Additionally, the Cajuns would certainly have to win out and win the SBC Championship.
While the scenario may still be unlikely, the Cajuns are as close as they have ever been to a potential playoff appearance.
GROUND ATTACK
Both of these teams have been tremendous with their rushing attacks, combining for over 3,600 yards this season. Both teams have three players with 390 or more rush yards this season.
The Jaguars have actually been better, with over 1,900 yards on the season. The winner of this game might be the team that is able to slow down the opposing running game more effective.
