Cajuns rally back in dramatic fashion over UL Monroe

Posted by clintdomingue on October 31, 2015 in Latest News

Cajuns Warrhawks

The Ragin Cajuns were able to weather the storm and come away with the win over in-state rival UL Monroe by the score of 30-24.

UL Monroe fumbled on their opening drive giving the Cajuns ideal field position but were only able to get three points off the foot of freshman kicker Stevie Artigue.

The Warhawks responded with a methodical drive down the field capping it off with a 27-yard pass to Marcus Green to give them a 7-3 lead.

After the Warhawks forced a three-and-out and got ideal field position thanks to a shanked punt by Coutts, they punched it on a 4th and 10 with a 29-yard pass Ajalen Holly to extend their lead.

The Cajuns marched down the field on the following drive, and had to once again settle for a 41-yard field goal to cut away at the lead.

After the Cajuns defense forced a three-and-out, they marched down the field and had to once again rely on the foot of Artigue and make it 14-9 late in the first half.

The Warhawks continued to burn the Cajuns through the air, with a 53-yard bomb to Kaylon Watson to extend their lead. UL Monroe added a field goal to their score after a methodical drive to make it 24-9 at the half.

The Cajuns came out of the locker room to start the first half with a quick march down the field capping it off with Eli McGuire punching it in for the score to start a second half rally that would continue through the rest of the game.

Brooks Haack, who was put into the game late in the first half, continued to help the Cajuns rally with a 13-yard run that pulled the Cajuns within two points after a failed two-point conversion.

Haack continued to come through in the clutch when he threw a rainbow pass to Jamal Robinson on a 64-yard pass to give the Cajuns the lead after Eli McGuire punched it in for the two point conversion.

The Cajuns (3-4, 2-1 Sun Belt) will travel to Atlanta, Georgia to take on Georgia State (2-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) with kickoff slated for 1 pm.
