If there’s one pitcher that is used to carrying this team, it’s Alex Stewart (19-3). She made an appearance in both games and got credited with both wins as the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (38-6, 19-1 Sun Belt) clinched the Sun Belt Conference Regular Season Title on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep over Coastal Carolina (29-21, 7-15 Sun Belt).
It was all Cajuns from the outset of game one when they put up six runs in the first capped off by an RBI single off a bunt from Kassidy Zeringue.
Aleah Craighton got the Cajuns put the mercy rule into effect in the fourth with a two run shot to right field, making it a 9-0 win.
After Coastal Carolina got out in front with a sac fly, the Cajuns did it again with a three run inning in the bottom of the first which was started off by a two-run single from Lexie Comeaux.
The Cajuns put five more up in the second with Comeaux hitting a grand slam to make it 7-1.
Despite Coastal’s best efforts in the third, the Cajuns put up another five run inning to clinch the sweep.
The Cajuns will wrap up the weekend looking to sweep the series on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
