Cajuns Surge Past Warhawks to Complete the Sweep

Posted by clintdomingue on May 21, 2016 in Latest News

Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns closed the Old Tigue with a bang, completing the sweep of UL Monroe (20-35, 10-20 SBC) by the score of 6-2.

The hero from Friday night Stefan Trosclair gave the Cajuns an early edge in the bottom of the first with a single up the middle to score Kyle Clement.

But Danny Springer gave the Warhawks the lead in the top of the fifth with a moonshot over the left field wall to make it 2-1. But the Cajuns responded in the bottom half of the inning tying things up with a single to right field from Alex Pinero that allowed Nick Thurman to reach home after a throwing error.

The Cajuns took the lead later in the inning with a two-run double from Clement and put the game out of reach with a two-run blast down the left field line from Trosclair

Evan Guillory improved to 5-5 on the year allowing two runs off of four hits, walking one and striking out six in seven innings of work.

The Cajuns (37-19, 21-9 SBC) clinched a share of the regular-season Sun Belt Conference Championship and will be the 1-seed in the Conference Tournament due to winning the series against South Alabama.
