The Ragin Cajuns controlled things throughout the Friday night matchup against Georgia State (12-11, 2-3 SBC) with a convincing 7-3 victory.
Joe Robbins started his day off the same way he did on Thursday: with a home run. The only difference was that it was a solo shot to left field and it put the Cajuns up 1-0 early.
But the Panthers were able to respond quickly when Rhett Harper connected and reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Jarrett Hood to tie things up.
James Clements got the Panthers the lead in the top of the third with an RBI single. But the Cajuns responded with a sac fly from Derek Herrington that scored Nick Thurman to knot things up again.
The Cajuns were able to get the lead back with a three run inning in the bottom of the fifth. They would score two more runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Gunner Leger improved to 3-1 on the year allowing two runs off of seven hits, walking two and striking out three in five innings of work.
The Cajuns (14-9, 5-3 SBC) will go for the series sweep on Saturday bright and early with first pitch set for 11 am.
