The Ragin Cajuns took care of business Friday night with a 4-1 victory over Southeastern Louisiana (25-10) in the first game of the series.
Dylan Poncho capitalized on a throwing error by the shortstop in the bottom of the second to make it 1-0 nothing early on. But the Lions responded quickly with a sac fly from Schwaner in the top of the third to tie things up.
But Brian Mills was able to get the lead back for the Cajuns in the bottom half of the inning when he scored off of a wild pitch.
The Cajuns started to put the game away in the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot from Brenn Conrad, followed up by a solo shot from Joe Robbins in the bottom of the sixth.
Gunner Leger improved to 4-2 on the year allowing one run off one hit, walked two, and struck out two batters in seven innings of work. Dylan Moore got his eighth save of the season throwing one shutout inning and striking out one.
The Cajuns (23-11) will try to clinch the series on Saturday when they head to Hammond for the remaining two games of the series with first pitch on Saturday set for 6 pm.
